I do not believe
in a revolution, but you all do , i believe in the gay power, i believe in us
getting our rights, or else i would not be out there fighting for our rights ,these
were the words of sylvia rivera and this text is about her
Sylvia Rivera was
a American gay liberation, and transgender rights activist and community worker in New York, Rivera who
identified as a drag queen, participated
in manifestations with the Gay Liberation Front.with her close friend Marsha P Johnson,
Rivera co-founded STAR (Street Travestite Action Revolutionaries), a group dedicated to helping homeless young drag
queens, gay youth,trans women, and people of comunity that were in the jail.
STAR as an
organization beguin its work la in the
New York University protests in 1970 because the university banned gay events
and sexual diversity activists maked a strike. STAR was born by frustration of
that the gay liberation moviment refused to defened yourselves and it was compromised to fight the pólice

childhood was difficult and at age 10 sylvia decided
to go to new york here she was adopted by drag queens who lived near time
square garden on 42nd street after that, in her adolescence she lived in
protests and her accommodation was varied and depended on the availability of
her friends
During the 1990s Sylvia managed to continue fighting, although she tried
to end her life in 1995 after her friend Masha died in 1992, she survived drug
abuse and continued to denounce the systematic discrimination that suffer the transvestite,
transgender and transsexual population. when she traveled to italy for the millenniunm march in 2000 she was
acclaimed how mother of all people TLGB .
Unfortunately
she died on February 19, 2002 in the St Vincent Hospital in New York for liver
cancer, the same year was founded the project of law sylvia rivera which is a
legal aid organization based in New York City at the Miss Major-Jay Toole
Building for Social Justice that serves low-income or people of color who are
transgender, intersex and/or gender non-conforming.

for had been pioneering the lgbt movement and is reconoced for achieve that the
"L" of transgender was inclunding in "LGBT" and is one of
the two transgerd women to have a statue

o de lo contrario no estaría ahí afuera luchando por nuestros derechos”, estas
fueron las palabras de Sylvia Rivera en su discurso del dia del orgullo de 1973
y este texto es sobre ella
Sylvia Rivera fue una activista estadounidense
de liberación gay y transgénero y trabajadora comunitaria en Nueva York,
Rivera, quien se identificó como drag queen, participó en manifestaciones con
el Frente de Liberación Gay. con su amiga cercana Marsha P Johnson, Rivera
cofundó STAR (Street Travestite Action Revolutionaries), un grupo dedicado a
ayudar a jóvenes drag queens sin hogar, jóvenes homosexuales, mujeres trans y
personas de la comunidad que estaban en la cárcel.
STAR como
organización comienza su labor en las manifestaciones de la universidad de
nueva york en 1970 ya que esta universidad prohibio los eventos gays, así que
diferentes activistas de la diversidad sexual organizaron una manifestación.

defenderse y se comprometiera a luchar contra la policía
Su infancia fue difícil y a la edad de 10 años decidió irse a nueva
york, allí fue adoptada por varias Drag Queens que vivían cerca al time
squer garden en la calle 42 de ahí en adelante su adolescencia fue vivir
en manifestación y variaba su hospedaje dependiendo de las disponibilidad de
sus amigas
Durante la década de los noventas Sylvia siguió luchando. A pesar de que trató
de acabar con su vida en el año 1995 y a pesar de perder a su amiga Marsha sobrevivió
al abuso de las drogas y siguió denunciando la sistemática discriminación que
sufre la población travesti, transgénero y transexual. Cuando viajó a Italia
para la Millennium March en 2000 fue aclamada como la Madre de todas las
personas TLGB.
Tristemente murió el 19 de febrero del año 2002
en el Hospital St. Vincent de Nueva York por cáncer de hígado. Ese mismo año
fue fundado el proyecto de ley Sylvia rivera que es una asistencia jurídica con
sede en la ciudad de Nueva York en el Miss Major-Jay Toole construcción de la
justicia social que sirve o personas de color o de bajos ingresos que son
transgénero , intersexuales y / o de género no conformes
Ahora es conocida por haber sido pionera del
movimiento LGBT y es reconocida por lograr que la "T" de transgénero
se incluyera en "LGBT", y es una
de las dos primeras mujeres transgénero en tener una estatua en EEUU.
